Miura Hotel

There's art throughout the hotel, including original works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gerhard Richter, Damien Hirst, and Tony Cragg, along with pieces by other Czech and international artists. The beautiful restaurant view, design, and top-notch restaurant and service make this the most luxurious hotel in the area, though it comes at a high price. I did miss having someone who really knew the art. The receptionist, who was just reading articles from the hotel's website, didn't make much of an impression on me.

We ended up paying over 24,000 CZK, far above what we'd agreed, after being charged another 6,200 CZK at checkout for the third night. We had booked three nights with a balcony for 15,600 CZK. At check-in, the receptionist offered a 16,200 CZK dinner package and said it covered everything and was a better deal. Only afterward did we learn it covered just two nights and replaced our original booking. Nobody explained this properly, either at check-in or when reception contacted us later. The staff were vague and unhelpful, and communication was a disaster. For a luxury hotel, this was absolutely unacceptable. We were misled and overcharged. Stay away unless you like being tricked.

The balcony view was spectacular, and the staff at reception and breakfast were friendly and professional. The building is an interesting piece of abstract architecture, but the whole place feels unfinished: the lobby mixes traditional hotel style with an art gallery, bare concrete, and a lot of wasted space. There are also off-brand Italian supercars in a showroom by the main parking entrance and odd geometric contemporary art inside. I booked a deluxe double with balcony and was disappointed as soon as I walked in. The room was bare, with an old, modest-sized TV, little decoration, and a sink sticking into the floor space beside the bed. That might make sense in a room with a kitchenette, but not a standard room. The bathroom felt like a jail cell: a tiny shower head, no sink because it's awkwardly placed in the room, no mirror, and plastic walls and floor that I initially mistook for polished concrete. The shower fitting was cheap. The single plastic chair looked like something my grandmother might have put in her garden 50 years ago. The two duvets were barely big enough and felt like sandpaper, with what seemed like nothing but air inside. A double bed should have one large duvet. The two pillows were useless too, one genuinely too small to support a baby's head and the other too big to use. Shower gels were the cheap, chemical-filled kind you'd find in a 2-star hotel. On top of all that, they charged a 1000czk dog surcharge. Calling this pet friendly feels like an absolute scam. It's hard to understand why someone would build such a fantastic structure, choose a great location, and hire the best staff, then skimp on the basics that make a hotel room comfortable.

I really liked the sophisticated, modern design and felt very comfortable here, though I can see it won't suit everyone. The hotel sits in a beautiful spot right on a golf course, with lovely views. Everyone was attentive and friendly, and our 8-course dinner was sensational. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
