Hotel Marina

Really good.

The lunch itself was satisfying: the regular-priced menu came in a generous portion, and the food was hard to fault. I just wish the choices had been more interesting than sirloin steak or pork with greens. The inside has a pleasant ship-like feel, which caught me off guard, and although the place is tucked away a little, parking was easy. We arrived around noon, with the pub empty, so it was disappointing to hear from the waitress right away that they don't offer fast service. Her smile felt superficial, and I got the impression she didn't think much of us, though that's just how it came across to me. Still, I'd recommend it for the food.

After our visit to the castle in Žleby, we hoped to grab a late lunch there this afternoon, but found the restaurant shut. Apparently the owner hasn't paid the electricity bill, so it can't open. That doesn't reflect very well on the owner, Ambiente. Eden is close by, and I won't need to come back here.

The room was roomy and clean, and the receptionist was genuinely pleasant and did what she could to address the issues. Still, for three evenings the water ran cold, each time after about eight. The shower also left water all over the bathroom because it wasn't sealed properly. WiFi was painfully slow too. We weren't working, but even pulling up a route on the maps for a day trip was a struggle. We raised it with the owner and did get a discount on the accommodation.
