Hotel Priessnitz

What made us want to stay was the chance to experience the classic spa culture, which is hard to find elsewhere. Unfortunately, the hotel itself was a very expensive disappointment. We paid 10,000 czk a night for a superior suite for two adults and three children, but it had only two regular beds and three very uncomfortable fold-out beds. The tea bags in the room cost an extra 15 czk each. The dinner buffet was mostly meat, often pork, with salty, fatty sauces and lots of potatoes, rice and knedliky. There were hardly any vegetables, just soft cooked carrots and raw peppers and tomatoes, with little to make a salad appealing. Getting the treatments arranged took a lot of effort. I spent three evenings emailing and working out a schedule with the prodej procedury desk for our family. At first, every treatment was set during the very strict, limited buffet hours, which felt unfriendly to guests. The reception gave little guidance about the treatments or how to prepare. We only found out later that unlimited treatments seemed to be included in the hotel fee, but nobody had told us. The bathroom looked at least 30-40 years old, with a shower over the bath and nothing to stop water flooding the room. A few times, brown water came out of the tap and bath, even after we had already used them frequently. I worry the hotel's pipes are very old and rusty. When we raised this with the receptionist, she seemed cool and uninterested, and wasn't friendly. We didn't feel like paying customers, more like we were expected to be grateful to stay at Priessnitz. The place felt more like a state institution than a four-star hotel, despite its very commercial prices. The rooms are old, the food felt unhealthy and cheap, and the staff were unfriendly.
