Karlovy Vary has a lovely atmosphere, with lots of little cafes and places to visit. The owner shared plenty of tips for exploring town, and the apartment is only about four minutes from the heart of it. Even so, it was quiet inside, despite being just a few meters from the centre. The Wi-Fi was free and fast, which helped a lot while I had some work to do. The apartment was spotless, even by my very detail-oriented standards, and the mattresses were comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped, though with so many restaurants around, you probably won’t need to cook. My friend and I had an amazing stay this summer. From our first contact, the owner replied quickly to all our detailed questions, welcomed us on arrival, showed us the private parking, and helped with our luggage. Parking costs extra, but it’s well worth it because finding a nearby spot is nearly impossible. Be sure to reserve it in advance. Thanks so much, Robert. I’ll definitely come back, and I’d choose this place again :)

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We paid for our stay through airbnb a few months before the trip, but when we arrived, nobody answered our calls or messages. Eventually we reached the owner, who said the hotel was fully booked and had no rooms available. It was during the movie festival, so the other hotels around were full too. We couldn’t find anywhere else to stay and ended up at a friend’s place in another city.

Apartment number 7 had extremely poor sound insulation. A quiet conversation or a neighbor coughing could wake you up at night, which makes it hard to relax or enjoy a peaceful stay in Karlovy Vary. They refused to refund the money for this reason. Some agency manages the apartments, and there’s no way to contact the owner directly.

The stay was perfect, though I wish there’d been air conditioning. I guess nothing’s perfect, right? You do need to be in good shape to make it up the hill.
