The apartment had what we needed, but the cleanliness really let the stay down. There was no washing machine, which was fine since we hadn’t planned to use one. Still, the floor was so dirty that our white socks were ruined, and the bed linen and towels were dirty too. We had no mop, vacuum or broom to clean the floor ourselves. Getting the sofa ready for the kids was another problem. I had to put sheets on the blankets and pillows, and the sheets didn’t seem fresh. The pillow on the main bed smelled of sweat, and there were dirty spare towels tucked underneath it. I felt sick lying there. My husband messaged the contact person to ask for another apartment. He said the cleaning service would sort it in 15 minutes, even though it was already 11 PM. A man came and apologized a lot, then brought linen and towels in a big checkered shuttle bag. We hurriedly changed the main bed ourselves while he made up the children’s beds, but the pillows still seemed soaked with sweat. He said the cleaning service would come in the morning, but he ended up mopping everything himself, which didn’t give me much confidence in that service. They left extra towels, but they were bath mats, so we had only two large and three small towels. The next day, we found the children’s sheet was dirty when we folded the sofa. We wash ourselves and the kids before bed. They brought a fresh-smelling replacement, but it had a black hair and a fly on it. The closet door was also hard to open. I can understand a lot, but the impression was badly spoiled. I hope they improve.

The apartment is a comfortable base for a few days in Karlovy Vary. It has two rooms and everything needed for cooking, plus a washing machine and dishwasher. The building was fully renovated in 2020, with modern furnishings. The decor felt a little too dark for our taste, but it was modern and spotlessly clean. The whole building is cleaned and the bins are emptied every five days. The town centre is about a 10-minute walk, and there’s a Lidl nearby if you’ve forgotten something. Parking close by is the drawback. A monitored lot is a 10-minute walk away and costs 300 CZK, about €12, per day. We’d still give it five stars! 👍

The house was spacious, with a nice interior, and looked clean at first. But seeing someone else’s hair on the bedding made me really uncomfortable. There were two sets of single bedding for a double bed, and I found more than five hairs on one blanket. I don’t have black hair, and when I checked more closely there were countless hairs. If I’d found just one, I might have put up with it. I went to reception and asked them to come to my room and replace the blanket. After 10-15 minutes, a cleaner arrived and apologized briefly as she changed it. I checked the replacement with her and found three more hairs. This felt like a problem with the cleaning system, not me being overly sensitive. In the photo, you can see lint growing near the hair. I also showed the cleaner that the blanket she’d taken away had hair on it, but she just left, saying it was an issue with the washing machine. They did respond quickly, which was good, but I’m very disappointed that the underlying problem wasn’t fixed.
