Autokemp Liberec

The staff were the worst part for us. They seemed angry all the time, and there was basically no service. The woman in charge complained about everything, from us not understanding Czech to parking and paying by card. She tried to make us leave at 10 am because she'd rented the place to a school that had arrived early. The huts were old, the beds hard, and there was dirt everywhere. The showers and toilets were clean and okay, but old. This was camping in hell for us, the worst place we've ever stayed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

For a caravan or motorhome, the campsite worked fine for us, and it was easy to find an available pitch and an electrical hookup. It's close to downtown Liberec, with friendly service, a good restaurant, and low prices. There are no water taps apart from those in the sanitary buildings, and the facilities aren't very good. The cabins look worn out. The area is a fine base for visiting this place with its exciting history, but the owner should put some of the income into maintenance.

This place has cottages and camping pitches, plus showers, toilets, a pool, tennis, a bar, and a restaurant. It's enough for a simple, easygoing stay. If you like, and understand, the typical old-style Czech camping experience from before 1990, you'll probably feel at home here. The upkeep is long overdue, but it's an ideal place to stay without the fuss of modern life. Not every place has to be modern or luxurious.

The people running this campsite are disgraceful. A big bearded man follows the kids around and terrorizes them, acting like a bully. His wife is even worse, picking fights with everyone for absolutely nothing. It felt like Auschwitz at its worst. I'd tell anyone from Western Europe not to stay here.
