Spa & Wellness Hotel Olympia

We came for a spa weekend to relax, but the hotel's poor facilities left us exhausted. The room's air conditioning didn't work at all, and in the hot, stuffy weather we couldn't sleep properly. The pool can only fit about five people, even though there were more than 100 guests at the hotel. People had to wait for someone to leave before they could get in. There didn't seem to be anyone looking out for guests' comfort or safety in the spa. Teenagers were jumping into the small pool right by other people's heads, and staff said nothing, even though it was unsafe. Breakfast was another big disappointment: the bread was stale for a four-star hotel. The restaurant seemed understaffed, with just two waitresses serving all those guests, tables left uncleared, and food scraps on the floor. An alarm also went off early in the morning and woke some guests. When we arrived, the receptionist was unpleasant. She said she didn't have time for us because she needed to have lunch, and told us to hand over our IDs and go do something else. The location is the only good thing about the hotel. It's poorly maintained, which is sad to see.

The location is excellent, right by the kolonada and restaurants, and we were especially glad the hotel welcomes pets. Everything else went well too: friendly staff, rooms and amenities that all seemed new, and very good wellness facilities with a big choice of treatments and massages. The restaurant was good, and breakfast had plenty of variety. 💜

We stayed for three days. The room was clean, everything worked, and although the hotel is around 150-200 meters from the central park rather than right at the front, that didn't bother us. We booked a room for two with one large bed, but it and the bathroom both felt small. For that size, the price seemed a bit high. At hotels in a similar price range, we've had more room and a wider breakfast selection. Here, breakfast was tasty but had limited variety. It was much more varied at places like Excelsior, Hvezda, Maria Spa, and, of course, the more expensive Centralni and Nove Lazne.

I chose a room that suited my particular needs, and it made it possible to spend a productive, quiet week studying. I've stayed in more than 500 hotels around the world, and it's rare to find an affordable place where I can feel comfortable and focus on demanding work. I was at Olympia for a week in January, and it stayed calm throughout the day. The warm interior and stylish Bohemian furniture were pleasant, and the nearby park was perfect for quiet winter walks during breaks. Breakfast was just right, especially the daily speciality. The spa isn't as fancy as the one at Ensana Nové Lázné, but for the price I can't complain. Parking costs too much, though a staff member told me about a spot a couple of streets from the entrance for about 40Kč a day. Not everyone on staff speaks English, but I always found someone friendly who could help with my requests. Thanks for making the stay worthwhile and productive. I'll come back one day.
