Restaurace Staré Sedlo

The prices were a pleasant surprise, much lower than we're used to in Prague. After visiting the castle, I came here with my parents and boyfriend, and we'll definitely be back. The two women serving us were friendly and helpful. We tried traditional Czech dishes: Dad and I had roast duck with two kinds of sauerkraut, Mom chose Easter chicken with stuffing, and my boyfriend had mixed meat with sauerkraut and two kinds of dumplings. The portions were big. We had green beer, paid by card, and left a cash tip.

The fried cheese, or smažák, was above average, though a bit expensive for the area. One waitress was caring and pleasant; the other seemed uninterested and got the receipt wrong. She didn't say she hadn't come to our table. Inside, two men who looked like management were laughing and drinking wine. They may be nice guys, but encountering them didn't make the experience pleasant as a customer.

The place itself is clean and nice, but I can't really recommend it. Half the menu wasn't available, the food costs too much for what you get, and one waitress wasn't what I expected, to put it politely. About the owners' response: I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I didn't get jam or buns. One star is harsh, but there's another restaurant 50 m away with burgers and steaks for less, really nice staff, and incredible food. They got us a burger with fries and homemade mayonnaise in 10 minutes. Here we waited 10 minutes just for two coffees. Maybe it simply wasn't your day and the milk frother was broken, but comparing two places so close together, I can't give more than one star, sorry. 210 czk for fried cheese with fries? That should be illegal.

A simple pub for people driving by. Most of the food was okay, and so were the beer and other drinks. The service was friendly.
