The pension and its location are fine, but the owner’s manner changed as soon as he saw my ID. I’m not a Czech citizen, and he decided my document wasn’t acceptable and initially refused to accommodate us. As a foreigner, I know my rights and obligations, and I knew he was wrong. The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic website explains which documents count as identity documents for foreigners. In the end, he said he would let us stay because he didn't want to make things difficult for us. Still, it felt like he wanted to show us who was in charge and who made the decisions. He also complained that there are always complications with foreigners :) I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to people who don't have the right passport.

We had a wonderful time. The owner looked after us like we were his personal guests. The on-site restaurant was closed for that time of year, but there wasn't anywhere else nearby to eat and we were hungry, so he made us an amazing dinner anyway. Balcarka Cave is within walking distance. I personally think it's nicer than Punkva cave, and if you go first thing in the morning, you might get a private tour. There were only the two of us. Macocha abyss and Punkva cave are about a 6-minute drive away.

The rooms and mini apartments were clean and modern, and the garden was nice. But the owner was unfriendly and rude in writing and in person. Check-out was very early, at 9.30, with no flexibility, and there was no curtain on the roof window.

The owner is very direct, which won't suit everyone. The food was homemade and fresh, and the bread was still warm.
