Hotel Hurka

This is a hostel, not a hotel. If I could give it minus five stars, I would. The thin woman with black hair at reception was very rude, and the way she spoke to customers was unacceptable. Something needs to be done about it.

The beds were uncomfortable, most were broken, and many didn't even have real mattresses, as my photo shows. Three rooms share one bathroom, the Wi-Fi is unusable, and there's no outside light at night. There are lots of junkies and alcoholics living here, so you have to watch your back, especially after dark. My last night, one of the residents attacked me. At reception they said they weren't allowed to call the police. With neighbors like that, don't expect anyone to help. The staff were arrogant and unpleasant. The name is misleading, this is a very bad hostel, not a proper hotel. Unless you're truly desperate, don't come to Hůrka. I wouldn't bring a family here, especially children. Better to sleep at the bus or train station and find somewhere decent in the morning.

I stayed for three weeks and saw drugs, alcohol, and drunk people shouting in the hallways. There were broken doors, and the kitchen shared by the whole floor was disgusting and seemed infected. There's no smoking area, so from the third floor you have to go all the way down whenever you want a cigarette. The staff mostly only spoke English if you pushed a tip; otherwise they wouldn't even look at you. Why hire reception staff without English, the universal language? You have to carry laundry about 400 metres to reception. I paid around 170 euros for two weeks, which is quite a lot for these conditions. If sanitary inspectors came, I think Hotel Hurka would be closed for good, considering the diseases you could find there.

The staff weren't cooperative, and the place is far outside the city. Public transport only comes every 30 or 45 minutes. It's right by the road, so there's a lot of noise, and drunk people are outside the hotel in the evening. I wouldn't recommend it for families or women traveling alone. The worst place.
