Hotel Adalbert

I booked expecting the quiet, beautiful hotel described in the reviews, but there was a huge fair or festival on the grounds with techno music blasting into my room. The website hadn't mentioned it, and nobody told me when I booked. The staff were indifferent at best. That level of hospitality is inexcusable, as any reasonable person would understand.

The thing that made this place feel special to me was hearing the everyday mass from my window, twice a day, as a distant, dreamy sound. The church bells ring every 15 minutes through the night, which took some getting used to, but it's a working monastery, so I expected it. The Břevnov monastery grounds are lovely, with a beautiful church, large gardens, and a park with pretty ponds nearby. I was traveling on a budget and found this little gem. The city centre may seem far, but tram 22 stops right in front of the monastery and runs very frequently. My single room was simple but had everything I needed. The bathroom was very clean, and the firm bed suited my bad back. Breakfast was simple and tasty. I'm picky about coffee, but I liked the cappuccino from the machine, which had lots of options. The staff were polite and helpful, including the clerks, cleaners, and kitchen team.

The rest was fine, apart from him and the older lady. The oldest receptionist was unpleasant and unhelpful. They don't allow pets like dogs anymore, though they used to. Avoid.

The room was okay and breakfast was good, but transport was hard to get to and the service wasn't helpful.
