Apartmány Železná

The place was clean, with really good views, and the host was very nice. It’s only a two-minute walk from the astronomy clock tower, which made the location incredible.

There’s plenty of room, with two double bedrooms and a pull-out sofa, and the apartment was clean enough. The location is very good, right beside Old Town Square. But getting up three floors means dealing with uncomfortable stairs and no elevator. At night the street noise is heavy, and there are no blinds or curtains to keep the morning light out, so you wake when the sun comes up.

The best thing about our stay was the spot, just two minutes from the Orloj clock tower. We were in the first-floor apartment, though, and it looked a little older and less cared for than the photos. It was clean, but cold air came through the bathroom window, which had been sealed with insulating tape. The bathroom itself had no heat; two portable radiators, one medium and one small, warmed the rest of the place. The beds were comfortable and there was a small fridge. Street noise carried clearly, though it died down after about 9:00 PM. Parking nearby isn’t available to visitors, since the whole Old Town is residents-only. The city’s P+R lots worked well, and there are several.

For the price, it’s very good value, and the apartment is huge. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and the town hall clock is about 100 m away. The furnishings have a 70s feel. The shower and sink area is tiny, and a few things need replacing, including the broken shower head and mixer tap, plus the shower curtain.
