Falkensteiner Hotel Maria Prag

We’d happily come back. The hotel felt modern, clean, well cared for, and thoughtfully organized, and we thought it was comfortable and good value. Breakfast stood out, with fresh, tasty food and plenty of variety. A few small things could make the room easier to use: more hooks by the entrance, a little bench or stool for changing shoes, and a luggage stand. We also couldn’t find a good place to dry towels. We support reusing them to save water, as the note suggested, but some bars or drying space would help. Those details didn’t change our positive stay, and we’d recommend the hotel.

Breakfast had freshly made à la carte options and coffee, plus bread, yogurt, eggs, nuts, and fruit. You could make juice from fresh fruit or order a mushroom omelette. The hotel is well placed for walking around the old town, with tram and metro connections nearby. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom and coffee machine. They replenished the capsules and left a bottle of water during cleaning.

We enjoyed the spa, especially the steam room, sauna, and gym. The Monkey Bar serves the meals, breakfast, and drinks, with a good range of food and cocktails. Its outdoor seating is lovely, covered and heated in winter. It’s a great five-star boutique hotel, with a wonderful room and helpful staff. The location is good too, opposite a small park on a quiet road.

The rooms are new and perfect, breakfast is splendid and unusual, and the breakfast staff are friendly. Those are the reasons I haven’t removed the hotel from my address list. Still, the unresolved issues are frustrating despite repeated feedback. Prague taxis have a bad reputation, and Falkensteiner could call a cab with fixed pricing instead of taking a huge commission from guests. There’s a garage two streets away with hundreds of free spaces, so arranging a spot in advance could save guests a lot of trouble. Returning guests get only a 5% bonus, while bookings cost them a 30% commission. At the Monkey Bar, the ice cubes are enormous and there’s barely any alcohol, and they also get simple orders like Long Island iced tea or Mai Thai wrong.
