Hostel Florenc

If you’re using the bus for a transfer, the location works well. I wouldn’t recommend this area otherwise, since it didn’t feel very safe at night. Breakfast was just enough for us, though not great, especially if you arrive after 8:30-9:00 even though it runs until 10:00. Service was standard hostel stuff, nothing special. The rooms are a little dated, but clean, and the cleaning ladies seem to do their jobs. It was also surprisingly quiet, as we barely heard other guests, and the beds were very comfortable.

If I’m passing through Prague again, I’ll stay here. The staff were polite and the place was clean, with reasonable prices. My room was small but just right for one person, with a comfortable, snow-white bed and a sink. The toilet and shower were shared by five rooms in the women’s section. When I made my reservation incorrectly, the administration kindly arranged a new one and didn’t charge a cancellation penalty. I didn’t take my own photos, but the pictures on the website are current.

I heard trains at night, but the noise wasn’t as bad as I’d feared after reading the warning. The staff were friendly, though I wish they’d explained things beforehand, like where the kitchen was, how to unlock the stairway entrance, and how the deposit worked. I’d booked a towel, or so my order said, but they wouldn’t even rent me one, saying towels were only for private rooms. My locker also didn’t work. On a floor meant only for women, I unexpectedly saw a man sleeping in one of the beds on my second day. I wasn’t too bothered, but it was strange and I don’t think that should happen. The place was clean enough for two nights, and I could come back to sleep, cook a quick cheap meal, and get on with my day. I didn’t feel like returning for its own sake; the colors, design, and layout made the interior feel a bit like a hospital.

The breakfast was superb, with lots of food to choose from, and we got a voucher to leave our luggage at the bus terminal. The hostel is close to the bus station and some interesting places. I stayed just one night but enjoyed it: the room was clean and I slept well. Reception staff and the cleaning lady were both very helpful.
