The noise starts early and goes late. Around 50 students share a floor, and there are 6 floors across 11 buildings. At 2 AM, people were still singing, shouting outside doors, and making plenty of noise outside too. Complaining seemed pointless: they were at home doing what students do, drinking, singing, and harassing girls. By 8:00 in the morning it felt like summer camp, with loudspeakers blasting music down the corridor. The place is up on a hill, and the funicular was dismantled long ago. The shared shower for the floor was full of cockroaches coming in from the kitchen, which I only dared to enter once, just to see what it looked like. Men also walked into the women's shower freely. Inside the building and room, it felt like a prison or a haunted house, maybe an old hospital. Paint was peeling off the walls onto my head. They give you an abandoned, empty student dorm room, probably one even the poorest students had turned down. This place isn't fit to rent out. For the same money you can get a normal tourist hostel. It's total disrespect for guests, and a can of paint costs less than one booking. The walls look like they haven't been painted since the last century.

The location worked well for me, about 15 minutes by bus from the dancing house and around 35 from the main station. There’s a market and Mensa close by, and with several buildings, lots of students, and people playing sports around, I felt safe and welcome. The rooms are a good size and very clean. The furniture and bed clothing are old, but clean and odor-free. Bathrooms were very clean too, and the bath water was warm. Great for the price.

The location is outstanding, close to the park, and getting into the centre is easy with a short walk and then a bus or tram. Some reviews may be expecting too much. This is a clean private room in a university hall or dorm setup. We paid a little extra for the more expensive of the two options, which gave us a bathroom, toilet, and kitchen area shared with just one other room. It was all clean and spacious, with big windows. There was no kitchen equipment, just a fridge and hob.

For the price they charge in Prague, this is a 12 out of 10 if all you need is somewhere to sleep for a night. It's basic, with a bed, shower, bathroom, and even a kitchen, so don't expect much else. A weekend in Prague without any need for luxury could work well here. I wouldn't plan a whole vacation here, or stay on a business trip if something important is happening the next day. In the morning, take time to explore the area around the hostel. It's beautiful and not crowded. To make the most of it, take a funicular up and walk through the park on the way down.

I spent a few nights in building no 4, and it was a really awful experience. The smell wouldn't go away even with the window wide open. There was no Internet at all, the room equipment was falling apart, and I suspect the “cleaning” amounted to changing the sheets. The walls were so thin I can't imagine anyone sleeping there during the semester. The building and room had the feel of a prison or haunted house, or an old hospital. I really don't recommend this place.
