Hotel Bologna

Noise made it hard to rest. We could hear children jumping and stomping in the room above until late, then groups stayed outside the entrance making a racket until nearly 3 am. The hotel didn’t seem to step in. The walls and sound insulation were poor, and with the earlier bed bug concern on my mind, sleep was difficult even though our room looked clear. The bathroom was cramped, and the toilet seat wouldn’t stay up. The room also wouldn’t cool unless we opened the window, which brought in more outside noise. The stay wasn’t all bad, but these issues make me unlikely to come back.

The breakfast was just okay, neither good nor terrible. Location may be the only reason to choose this place, but be prepared for the possibility of being treated like the last person on earth. Our rooms were dusty, and some had ceramic tile floors so cold you couldn’t sit after a shower with bare feet without feeling your bones freeze. I asked reception to move rooms, but the man wouldn’t even hear me out. I then asked for slippers or flip-flops. First he said they’d be brought up in five minutes, then, when I checked again, he said ten. Nothing ever arrived. For a four-star hotel, that’s below the bare minimum. It was a horrible experience, physically and emotionally. The rooms were bad and the reception staff were the worst. There were two of us, and we’re not the dramatic type. We try to understand problems and sort things out peacefully, but that was really hard with people like this. An absolute joke of a hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.

Getting around inside was difficult for me because I use a wheelchair and have trouble waking due to strokes. There’s one step at the entrance, then another five between reception and the elevators. We booked two rooms with single beds as requested, but the beds had been pushed together into an uncomfortable double. At midnight, one of our phones slipped into the gap, and we had to pry the beds apart to get it back. My room had no available socket to charge our phones, while the other room had USB ports and outlets on both sides of the headboard. On the plus side, the staff were attentive and polite, the breakfast buffet was a delight, and the location was wonderful.

Room 120 was clean and comfortable, and we had no complaints about the hotel or its location. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had plenty of variety. Staff kept things moving so there weren’t lines and people could eat without a wait. We chose well and would happily do it again.
