My experience living at START Capital Partners through GoStudy was extremely negative. I was assigned a room that differed significantly from the booking photos and had an odor, poor ventilation, and cleanliness problems. My roommate had the same conditions but paid 1,500 CZK less after being “upgraded” to a higher-tier room, while I was charged more. I was also fined for smoking “on the premises” even though I was physically outside the window, and fined over a medical incident that was mistaken for drug use. I was threatened with deportation and forced drug testing, without proof or a chance to defend myself. When I asked for an explanation, they threatened to terminate my contract immediately and keep my deposit. On paper, the actions may fit “internal rules,” but in practice I experienced double standards, psychological pressure, disregard for health-related needs, and unequal pricing for the same conditions. I'm filing official complaints with ČOI (Czech Trade Inspection Authority) and the Ombudsman of the Czech Republic. International students should be very careful, read every line of the contract, and record every interaction with housing management.

The hotel went out of its way to keep us in the same room when we added an extra night. The rooms are comfortable, though the carpets are rather worn, and the style isn't modern. Be aware the top-floor rooms are attics, though that wasn't a problem for us. The neighborhood has a few small tourist attractions, several restaurants, and lots of mini markets, and the hotel also has its own restaurant. The location is handy for the main bus station and city center, with a nearby bus stop and frequent service. Breakfast was very good, except for the coffee and tea, and I think people with different tastes would find something to eat. Good value for money.

They gave me a packed breakfast to take along when I had to leave before breakfast service, and it was good. The restaurant below the hotel has lots of breakfast options. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the hotel itself is very nice. It's near the train station, and most famous sights aren't too far away on foot. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

As somewhere just to sleep, it wasn't bad, and food prices at the hotel were better than in town. But the room was basic, the hotel very dated, and the bed felt like a table with a thin mattress. There was no tea or coffee in the room, and reception had no milk or sugar; bring your own coffee sachets. Shampoo wasn't provided, only body wash. Reception staff were rude, didn't speak to guests, and seemed more interested in sewing or smoking outside. They were unhelpful and scruffy, the most unprofessional group I've encountered. Teenagers in the hotel made a lot of noise. We waited four hours in reception for our airport shuttle without being told there was a separate part of the hotel next door where we could get a drink and food. Nobody gave us public transport information, so we walked 45 minutes each way to town, which was exhausting. We stayed in a three-star hotel in Poland that was fantastic, with no comparison to this one, and plan to return there. That may have tainted this stay, but I wouldn't come back.

The room was cheap and basic, with older furniture and a few bleach marks on the carpet, though it was clean. It felt a little stuffy when I arrived on the fourth floor, where there was only a small roof window, but fresh air helped. The location is very good, close to both the train station and city center. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and the Wi-Fi worked well.
