Disgusting.

The surroundings are beautiful, and Serbia has lovely nature, so one star for that. But next time we’ll definitely stay somewhere else. There was no bed linen, and that evening we found the heating wasn’t working. The owner came to fix it, but there was no hot water at all. Later, the water sputtered and then stopped completely. In the morning, we got a call saying one of us had left the shower running downstairs, supposedly using 10 cubic meters of water. None of us had been downstairs; we’d only used the first floor. We were told we’d have to pay for any damage. When we returned for our things the next day after a walk, the owner came over and started shouting at us and his classmates, calling us “drunk” at the cottage and “junkies,” and saying we’d pay for everything. We were taken aback. The owner had come by in the evening and surely saw that we weren’t doing anything wrong. Then the situation got worse. A “friend” of the owner took a backpack from his friend, told him to get in the car to retrieve it, and drove off with the bag when the friend refused. The Czech police had to deal with it. The whole experience was appalling. We never want to see the cottage or the owner again.

The heating didn’t work, there were no sheets, and no water came through. Then the owner threatened us and attacked us at the train station, where he stole my friend’s backpack. He claimed it was because we’d left the shower running, which was made up, and that kind of behavior is really not okay. We had to get the police involved. A crazy experience.

We’d happily stay again. The apartment was clean and well equipped, and the owners gave us a lovely welcome. Lída guesthouse in the quiet village of Srbsko is a great base for the Bohemian Karst or even Prague, which is nearby. Highly recommended 😊
