Sporthotel Olympia

The hotel was clean and nice, and we enjoyed the good food. But the customer service at other accommodations nearby is on a different level. After checkout, we went for a bike ride and wanted to leave the car for another 3 hours. The parking lot was empty, but we weren't allowed to stay. From a hotel in this category, I expected much better service.

We stayed in one of their three apartment suites in February. The rooms were clean and at a good standard, though small comforts like towel hangers were missing. I've stayed at quite a few 4-star hotels in Alpine ski resorts, and this place doesn't yet feel in the same league when it comes to how guests are treated. It seemed to me that the owner only cared about money, and that guests, real or imaginary, were just a legal source of it. Ice on the hotel's access road damaged my car while it was parked in their lot. They hadn't taken care of the ice. I wasn't even in the car when it happened, but they called the police on me right away. For three hours, I was kept dealing with police checks for alcohol and drugs and every possible driving document. It was Saturday evening, around supper time. After all that, they said it wasn't their problem and that nobody had asked me to park there. My meal went cold, and so did my mood. Thanks, but no. This 4-star hotel isn't for 4-star guests. I wouldn't have minded if they'd simply said, "Sorry, it's not our problem," though I guess they don't have proper insurance. Calling the police on me was unnecessary. I wasn't driving, though I might already have had a few beers.

It was the cheapest accommodation nearby, and the service matched the price. The furniture, sheets, pillows, and bathroom were terrible, all dating back to the communist era.

The beds were comfy, the apartment roomy, and the staff friendly. It had been newly renovated and breakfast was very nice. The wellness area and fitness room weren't open or ready.
