Really, really good.

About ten years ago, this was, in my view, the best restaurant in SY. It was tucked away in the forest, with a setting that worked well for families with kids. Then it seems the ownership changed, and both the hotel and restaurant went downhill badly. The food was awful, even worse than the Chinese bistro with cat meat on the square :). But things have changed a lot! Thanks to our friends, my wife and I got to spend our wedding night here on 9.9.2017. We arrived at half past one in the morning and got into our room easily through the side entrance. It had been beautifully prepared with roses, candles, champagne, and glasses. In the morning, the owner was quick and happy to serve us an excellent continental breakfast and take care of what we asked for. She told us she'd bought the hotel in poor condition and was renovating it, replacing upholstery, mattresses, and other things. They planned to officially open in October 2017. My wife and I agreed on a 100% rating, and the title of quietest and friendliest hotel in Svitavy and the surrounding area. We got to stay here for free, but it's not somewhere I'd choose myself. The suite was a shock. We're a couple, yet the beds were separate. The room was noisy, you could hear anyone talking next door, and we could hear the TV in the next room too. There was a wilted flower falling apart in the room, and the cleanliness was pretty poor.

The restaurant was excellent. Along with traditional Bohemian food, I had a proper amatriciana, and the Italian espresso was a surprise, just like in Rome. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the bill came to much less than I expected for what I ate and drank. The hotel itself is beautiful, in a traditional style that feels different from the usual places. It's an easy walk from the city and set among the woods, like a fairytale spot. There was plenty of parking, and I felt fine leaving my motorcycle there. My room had everything I needed, including a view of the woods, and breakfast was plentiful and included in the room price. I'll come back next year with my biker friends.
