Hotel Lahofer

It took 40 minutes just to bring us a menu, then another hour for food that was lukewarm, bland, and way overpriced. The waitresses were drinking on the job, and seemed rude and boorish. The personnel were the rudest I’ve ever met. Don’t come here to eat, or, really, at all. Never again!

I’d heard plenty of good things, so this was a bitter disappointment. The food was poor: the “medium rare” filet was dried out, the duck breast was dry too, and the salad had no taste. We didn’t feel welcome from the staff, and wine seemed to be served in rations. They didn’t even ask if we wanted to try more. I’d avoid the restaurant.

The owners have their own vineyard, so you can taste their wines and buy some too. It’s a lovely restaurant, and I think Znojmo would be hard pressed to offer a better one. The hotel itself is small and family-run, and seems like a very good place to stay.

The welcome here is extremely warm. There’s also an on-site wine shop if you’d like to try local wines. If you’re in the area or planning a visit, give it a try.
