There are plenty of hiking options around Altenau, and Torfhaus and Bad Harzburg are easy to reach. The village is quiet during the week, and the apartment has a lovely view over it. It’s spacious for two, well furnished, and very good value.

Our dogs settled in comfortably, which made us happy too. We spent Christmas here and really enjoyed it. The room was cozy, the service very friendly, and the food prepared with real care. We’d love to return.

Restaurants, bakeries, and shops are all within a 10-minute walk, and the Kristall Therme spa is less than a 3-minute walk away. The apartment has a covered balcony and a spacious layout. It’s clean and well kept, has everything needed for two, and the landlord was friendly. A fair price for a great base in the heart of the Harz Mountains.

Everything was clean, and the apartment had what we needed to cook for ourselves. The location was just right for a relaxing break. A great place, highly recommended.

A nicely furnished holiday home, and a lovely place to set off for walks or bike rides.
