Ferienhof Schmidt

The area is lovely, with gentle hills that make it great for cycling. We’ve been returning to the Schmidt holiday farm in Tütingen for years, and each time we look forward to spending a wonderful week there. The farm is well kept and equipped, with plenty of different things to do. There are comfortable shared rooms, a children’s play barn, and a cowshed, or you can simply sit on the farm bench and watch what’s going on. Martin Schmidt, the farm manager, is always friendly and happy to chat with guests. We’ve noticed many people come back regularly, which says a lot about how satisfied they are. We’d happily recommend the farm for a short visit or a longer stay.

The children loved seeing the animals and playing in the barn, and there was plenty of outdoor space for them. Our room was simple but had what we needed, and it was very clean. We spent the weekend at this lovely farm with our family and had a great time. A good choice for families with children.

The farm is lovely, full of little details, and the people were incredibly friendly. The service was wonderful too, they even brought homemade cake and jam to our room. My partner and I booked a week, but there isn’t really enough for young adults to do, it seems more geared toward children and you can see everything in a day. We’d especially been looking forward to horse riding, but the riding instructor brushed us off and was rather unfriendly. That was a real shame since riding was the main reason we came.

Our apartment was rustic, cosy, and clean, with a shower, cable TV, and reliable Wi-Fi. We’ve stayed at the Schmidt holiday farm twice now, once in summer and again just recently in fall, and felt very welcome both times. Booking by email was easy. On arrival, Monika usually welcomes guests, gives a friendly introduction and shows them around. You’re free to explore the farm up close. Our four-year-old loved the play barn, pigs, and horses. There are also Jack Russell terriers, plus cows and cattle in the barn and pasture. We arranged riding lessons directly with Sabine, in person or by phone. She introduced our daughter to riding and horse handling with patience and humor. The play barn has balance bikes, go-karts, pedal tractors, scooters, handcarts, foosball, and ping-pong. There’s also a sturdy multi-level climbing maze with a slide, though much of it seems better suited to kids around six or seven and older. This is a self-catering holiday farm, so you shouldn’t expect hotel service. Each apartment has a kitchenette, and guests can also use the big shared kitchen, common rooms, washer, and dryer. Fresh milk, eggs, and other farm products are available on request, and some are sold in the farm shop. Each family also gets a jar of homemade jam, and you can pick flowers from the farm’s flower field for a bouquet. We had a great time and will definitely come back.
