A cozy little cottage on the edge of the woods, and it was clean when we arrived. There's a refrigerator, a filter coffee machine and a kettle. Cooking isn't allowed because of fire safety regulations.

The breakfast basket was a lovely extra, packed generously with rolls, toppings, porridge, fruit salad, eggs and more. Our little cottage was spotless and had everything we could need. It's a real place to unwind and relax. We'll definitely be back! 🥰

We were thrilled with our two-night stay in a witch's cottage. They're new, luxurious, very clean and cozy, with all the essentials: dishes, cutlery, coffee maker, kettle, refrigerator, dish soap and a tea towel. The bathroom and shower were clean, and had shower gel, soap and a hairdryer. There were plenty of power outlets and hooks for coats and other things. We ordered a breakfast basket ahead of time and enjoyed it all day. Annweiler has nice places to eat in the evening, and for a traditional pub, Kaisereck is the place to visit.

We had a wonderful weekend in the Gretel cottages, Hansel and Gretel. The Art Nouveau Hotel Annweiler staff at reception were friendly and accommodating, and we were charmed by the cottages and their design as soon as we arrived. They're a great fit for an overnight stay, though everything is rather cramped for a longer visit. The amenities are good: there's a Nespresso machine with capsules, tea and a small refrigerator. You climb a ladder to reach the bunk bed. It took some getting used to after so many years without one, but it also brought back a cozy childhood memory and made the bed feel inviting. The cottages are in a superb location, but getting there means climbing almost 100 steps. Lights along the path are usually controlled by switches at either end. Unfortunately, they weren't working during our stay, so it was dark. If we're in the area again, we'd definitely stay there.

We came across one of the two fairytale witch's cottages by chance and spent our first night there. Named Hansel and Gretel, it sits at the edge of the woods and looks like a storybook cottage. It's beautifully furnished, cleverly designed and a lovely choice for anyone who enjoys fairytales, a unique and secluded stay, or simply some peace and quiet. The cottage was clean and well cared for, with towels, soap, toilet paper, coffee, tea, cutlery and other essentials. There were also plenty of coat hooks. We loved the thoughtful gift basket with wine, water and cake 🍰, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The classic fairytale books were a great touch; naturally, we read "Hansel and Gretel". A few things fell short. The breakfast basket was supposed to be left outside the cottage, but it was in the basement hallway of the villa/guesthouse instead. It took me quite a while to find it, which spoiled some of the cozy feeling. We talked through the misunderstanding and it was resolved. Breakfast was varied, but I thought €17 per person was quite expensive. There's no Wi-Fi reception at the cottage, only in the villa belonging to the complex. Though the forest-edge setting is beautiful, the inn and road are very close, with people passing by; a few even stopped to take photos. For me, it would feel even more like the fairytale if the cottage were actually deep in the forest. One night costs €196, and the cottage accommodates 3 people. Whether that's worth it is for each person to decide, but we thought it was. We'd love to come back and enjoy its charm again.
