We ate at the restaurant twice, and the German food was excellent. Breakfast was delicious too, with the usual European spread plus cold cuts, rolls, scrambled eggs, and meat. We were glad we’d paid for it throughout our stay. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful whenever we needed them. Our spacious, very clean room was on the third floor at the back, and it was quiet overall. We stayed at Hotel Gasthof Zur Windmuhle over Christmas week 2025 and are already looking forward to coming back for Christmas week 2026.

The hotel itself is perfectly fine, but the restaurant is on another level. For my money, it’s the best in Germany and among the best in Europe, possibly the world. The food and service are off the charts. I’m a hardcore foodie, and I’d rate the food 15 out of 10. If you’re near Ansbach, this is the only place to stay. BRAVO!

When family come to visit me in Ansbach, I always put them up here. There’s a great complimentary breakfast, and the Franconian restaurant is a nice spot for dinner that the locals love.

I’ve just moved to the area and have been staying here for six weeks. It feels like a home away from home, and I’ll be sad to check out. The staff are kind, the rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious, and there’s a delicious breakfast included every morning.

The location is good, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is the best in the area. A fantastic place.
