A card payment wasn’t accepted, which is why I’m taking off a point. The hotel itself is personal, lovingly cared for, and clean. Breakfast is basic but enough, with homemade jam and frozen rolls.

We went elsewhere in the end. We’d waited by the menu for about two minutes before opening and asked about eating there. When someone, probably an employee, was let in, the door was promptly locked again so we couldn’t enter. It seemed they didn’t want customers. Expensive, too.

The woman I spoke to on the phone was rude and abrupt when I tried to cancel my room booking. I can’t comment on the hotel itself, though it might be quite nice.

The food reminded us of Mom’s cooking, and we felt very comfortable in the lovely atmosphere. It’s a great restaurant, and we’ll definitely be back!

The hotel next door is worth recommending too, with friendly service, a clean, down-to-earth feel. The restaurant itself is very nice and offers a good range of choices.
