We stayed at Blaue Gams in October and had a lovely time. The view over Ettal and the monastery is stunning, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Our room, one floor above reception, was spacious, clean, and had a very comfortable bed. There’s a small, handy elevator to reach it. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was top notch. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant so much that we ate there both nights. Parking is close and convenient. Even as a small hotel, it offers a lot, including laundry service, which we needed at a crucial point in our trip. We’d gladly stay here again next time we visit Ettal.

The views are beautiful, and the staff go out of their way to help. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and dinner at the restaurant was relaxed and nice. Great location and service.

The wellness area is great, and there's even a cold plunge. The food was good, the rooms were nice, and the views over the monastery and mountains are stunning.

We loved the panoramic views of Ettal's old town and the monastery, and there’s a nice lawn area with lounge chairs for sitting outside. This countryside-style hotel is beautifully designed, with impressive attention to detail. Parking is free right beside the building. Our room was very clean and had a fridge and a complimentary bottle of water. The bathroom was especially roomy and had excellent water pressure. The standard room itself was quite small, though, and there was no kettle. Getting in means taking the stairs one floor up, so that may matter for anyone with mobility issues. Check-in also took longer than expected because there were so many questions. The restaurant has a varied, tasty menu at reasonable prices. The wellness area was a nice extra, with saunas and relaxation spaces open twice daily at no extra charge. Despite the drawbacks, we had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend the hotel.

That balcony view is hard to beat. I could sit there for a month! The bed was honestly very hard, though the pillows were firmer than most I'd had in Germany, which I appreciated. The staff were terrific. Try the cheese board and Ettal Dunkel.
