Haus Carola

We were hoping for a few restful days, but I was admitted to hospital with an acute pulmonary embolism two days before the trip. My husband called the guesthouse to let them know and cancel. We understood that cancellation fees might apply, but the way he was treated on the phone was disgraceful. He was immediately called a liar and told the hospital story wasn't true. The next day, the woman called me and said I couldn't have been in hospital because I answered the phone. I found that outrageous. If you work in tourism, you should know how to speak to guests. We've travelled a lot and have never experienced anything like this. We also filed a complaint with the tourist board. It's a shame, because the tone was anything but friendly or matter-of-fact. The building is very well kept, the rooms are clean, breakfast is great, and the staff are courteous. Good value for money, and I'd gladly come back.
