Gasthaus zum Dörenberg

The hotel sits in the woods, so the air feels really fresh. Breakfast was perfect too.

We had a very good experience with the service, and the food was beautifully presented. The risotto at dinner was excellent, though as a vegan I’d have liked a wider choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The room was a good size, and the dog treats waiting for our dogs were such a lovely surprise. I’ve travelled around Europe with them for years and never had that happen, especially with no extra charge. I’m grateful on their behalf. I’d gladly come back if I get the chance.

There’s plenty of parking, and breakfast is a nice buffet. I think there may be a restaurant, but I didn’t eat there and can’t say for sure. I gave it three stars because the room had only one working bulb out of three, so it was quite dark. The old bed was very soft, and I woke up several times during the night. With the window open, street noise was loud; with it closed, there wasn’t another way to get fresh air. Finding the room was a hassle, with lots of stairs and turns, and I had to take the same route each time I went out or headed to breakfast. The Wi-Fi was unstable too.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and the hotel meals were top quality. The staff were cheerful and friendly. A fantastic place.
