Hotel Athos

Breakfast was spot on, especially the lovely scrambled eggs. The owners and managers were so friendly and helpful, and the room was just right, with a wonderfully hot shower. I liked the decor, too. It’s centrally located and has parking. A great little hotel, highly recommended.

We didn’t have the experience many other reviewers describe at Hotel Athos. The main issue was a moldy smell in the room, which felt especially concerning because I had a lung and breathing problem for the first few days of the trip. I told the host, but we weren’t offered another room. We left for somewhere else and had to pay a charge. The room also looked more dated than it did in the photos. Parking was limited to four spaces on the street in front and a couple more in a run-down garage behind the property. The host said a space would be available after the restaurant closed. We weren’t happy with the parking or the possible health implications of staying there.

It’s easy to explore Baden-Baden on foot from this hotel, and the location is great. The rooms are large, though not modern, and the hotel is very nice and uncomplicated. The Greek restaurant serves tasty food.

The service was very attentive, and we enjoyed our stay enough that we’d come back next time we’re in Baden Baden. The rooms are older but spacious. It’s an easy walk to the city center, in a pleasant neighborhood just off the Lichtentalerallee. The street can be busy in the morning, though it’s usually quiet.
