I've stayed here twice, once in 2018 and again recently, and this review is long overdue. After seven years, the professionalism and warm hospitality are still at a high level. The central location puts local attractions close by, and the rooms are good quality for a very affordable price. Breakfast has a great range of choices. Parking is free at the hotel, which is a big plus, though space can be tight, as is typical for the Black Forest. I'd avoid renting an oversized car. I highly recommend the place and will stay again on my next visit.

Carmen at reception was the best receptionist we've ever had! She was helpful, gave us great information, and speaks very good English. The hotel is close to anything you'd want to see in 'Baden Baden, and the Schloss ruin is a short drive up the mountain. We stayed in September 2025. The rooms were up to date, nice, and cleaned well, and breakfast was a feast.

The bed was cozy and breakfast acceptable. The hotel is near the lively areas, churches, restaurants, the park, and more. Check-in was interesting, and the elevator wasn't working. Parking is tight, so you need to leave your keys at the front desk while they maneuver guests' cars in the limited space. That didn't bother me, and I had no issues. There's an EV charger by the hotel that's easy to use with a credit card. Bring your own cable.

The location was fantastic, just a two-minute walk to Congress, and the room was large and comfortable, with a minibar and coffee maker/water heater. I arrived very late, but the night manager sent picture instructions for checking in after hours. Staff were friendly, and it was nice to hear the reception team fluently speaking several languages besides English, which you don't see often these days. Hotel parking was full, so I had to use the Congress parking house 200 meters away. Even so, I had a great stay and will book here again.

We've stayed at the Merkur Hotel twice, and it really suits us. Great value for money, nothing to fault. We'll be back.
