Hotel Am Dom

The location was nice, and they did refund us. But my room wasn’t clean when I checked in, and they offered to clean it again while I waited. Then everyone was told the heating system had malfunctioned. I lost a lot of my holiday waiting around and trying to find another hotel.

The room got pretty hot on summer nights, and there was no air conditioning. Breakfast was also very limited for the price, especially with much better alternatives nearby. I was very unhappy with the service and facilities. The first night, the room and hotel lost power. The room had no power for the entire second day, and the internet was down. We had no hot water until the third day. It was hard to get a plausible explanation from the staff, since there was no reception desk in the building where we were staying. The reception and check-in staff were in the restaurant across the street.

Parking was the one real challenge. The hotel has underground spaces, but they’re extremely narrow, and getting there means driving through streets packed with pedestrians. Keep calm! We chose this hotel for a weekend city trip with three couples, and it worked perfectly for us. It’s as central as you could want for Bamberg’s sights and nightlife. The rooms were clean and well equipped, breakfast had everything I needed, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The rooms were very poor quality, and they didn’t give enough guidance for check-in. All the check-in details sent by email were wrong.
