Limehome Bamberg Maximiliansplatz

Our room was at the very top, and getting there meant hauling our luggage up lots of stairs, including a spiral one. That was a real challenge. The location itself was excellent, but the bathroom was colder than outdoors, and an almost constant dripping sound made it hard to sleep at night.

The square outside gets very noisy if you leave the window open for fresh air, and there’s no elevator, so this place is best for a short visit with light luggage. The location is ideal for seeing the center, though. We also had a rough start on Tuesday: workers in the adjoining building began renovating at 7 a.m., opening stairwell doors, scraping walls, and leaving cigarette smoke in the air. I doubt later guests will face the same thing once the work is done, but the host shouldn’t let workers use that part of the building while guests are staying. That section may not even belong to LimeHome. The door lock can be tricky too, and sometimes the instructions seem to work in reverse.

The room was fine, and the location is great. But even though smoking isn’t allowed in the rooms, people seem to smoke in the hallways. The smell gets inside, especially through the bathroom vent, and the room ends up smelling like a smokehouse. Not pleasant.

The room lost power everywhere except the bathroom. I kept messaging and finally got a reply that evening, but nobody came to fix it, and I heard nothing again until the next day. My travel companion ended up using my room for everything. The TV had no internet, and all the coffee and tea creamer was expired and spoiled. They offered a 30% discount for a horrible two-day stay, with no electricity and my suite being used as a stand-in. Also, this matters: if you have limited mobility, the rooms at the Bamberg Maximiliansplatz location are only on the second and third floors.
