Hotel Poseidon

My room was never cleaned during the four nights I stayed. They only changed the towels. The staff were disrespectful and very unprofessional. The man who calls himself the hotel owner opened my room door without knocking while I was asleep, which felt like an invasion of privacy and is reportable to the police. Then, at 8 a.m. on checkout day, another bald man knocked and told me to leave, even though checkout was officially at 11. People visiting Bayreuth should consider other places if they want to enjoy their stay in this small city. The staff need more training in hospitality.

The location is right in the center, with great views, and check-in is automatic. The price-quality ratio is quite okay. All praise, I recommend it.

We paid around €190 per night for the four of us in a quadruple room, which isn’t cheap, and we were pretty disappointed. We think there were about 20 people across five rooms on our floor, all sharing one bathroom and its toilet. The bathroom has a transparent window facing the city, so someone outside the building could potentially see or record us. We didn’t feel our privacy was protected. I’d give everything zero stars if I could, but I’m giving one to help people avoid this experience. Stay away from this hotel.

The room was a huge disappointment, and it looked nothing like the online photos. We arrived before 10 p.m. and found no reception desk, just a computer screen. After leaving the sketchy lifts, it was completely dark until we found a toggle switch that gave us about ten seconds of light to get to the room. It was awful. I don’t know how this place got a rating above three stars. We’d check out now if we could, but our car is locked in a car park until 6 a.m. Photos attached, if Google lets them through.
