Air in Berlin Hotel

I really liked the familiar, friendly feel here, and the staff were super nice. The building’s architecture is charming and traditional German, even if the room itself feels old. The bathroom, at least, has been newly renovated. A more modern interior would make a big difference.

We were happy with the room and the hotel in general, but the people working there made the real difference. Estela was especially kind when I felt unwell. She understood how I was feeling and took the initiative to find ways to help. I’ll always be grateful.

Reception is advertised as open 24/7, but we couldn’t check out before 7. We had people leaving at 6:45, and the person downstairs said checkout wasn’t possible and wouldn’t order the cab we’d requested the day before. Other guests trying to check out then were told the same. I ended up calling cabs and doing the receptionist’s job instead of saying goodbye to my family. I can’t recommend this hotel. When I came back to check out after 7, I showed an email saying we were entitled to a complimentary non-alcoholic minibar drink for booking through the hotel’s own website. I hope I won’t be charged for the water I was told was free. We also had two other drinks, but the price didn’t match the hotel’s printed list: cola was shown as 2€ and we were charged 2,80€. The prices on their own sheet are misleading.

Breakfast was really complete, hard to ask for more, though it may feel a little expensive. The hotel is near a U-Bahn station and two great Christmas markets, one just around the corner and the other about five blocks away. There’s also a nearby church where you can learn about its history and King Wilhelm I and take photos. It’s a cozy family hotel in a nicely renovated old building, with everything you need. The receptionists were kind, and one spoke Spanish, which was a plus for me. Maybe the breakfast price is just normal for Germany.
