Alte Feuerwache

Good value for students trying to manage short-term accommodation and food costs. Customer support responded quickly. The apartment had cleaning supplies, including a scrubber, cleaning towels and dishwashing liquid, plus a bottle of mineral water, coffee and tea sachets, sugar sachets, utensils, a pan, a water-boiling pan, coffee machine and toaster. There’s no reception service, but everything is digital, which saves time. I’m looking forward to bringing my family for a stay and hope to see more good offers. Thanks for the service 👍👍👍 I only wish the restroom ventilation were a bit better, especially when cooking. Otherwise, all good.

We booked a cot for our 5-month-old, and it was listed on the invoice, but none was in the room. Staff initially said we hadn't booked one when I called the 24/7 number. They brought one within an hour, though one side was broken. The shower kept swinging between painfully hot and freezing, and the bathroom fan didn't work. The room also had food smeared on the table, marks on the walls, and a few broken or worn items. It smelled so strongly of sweat when we arrived that we bought an air freshener. The lobby had an unpleasant smell too. We stayed a few days and found the place much more run down than the listing photos suggested. It was just about manageable for a short visit, but I wouldn't choose it again, especially for a longer stay.

The location works well for my work trips, so I've stayed here several times and overlooked smaller problems. Last time, though, the building entry code failed and I was stuck outside in the cold until a guest let me in. I told management and thought it had been fixed, but the same thing happened the next morning and another guest had to open the door. There were other problems too: the shower and coffee machine were broken, my room door wouldn't open, and the furniture felt cheap.

The old fire station gives Hotel Alte Feuerwache a distinctive feel, and the rooms are spacious with stylish décor. Service is friendly, the restaurant has tasty food in a cozy setting, and free parking is available. It's a little removed from the city center, though public transport connects it well to Berlin's attractions. A comfortable stay with some historic character.
