Amaya Motel

We found bed bugs in the bed. It was disgusting, and we were worried about our clothes, hair, and everything around us. We have pictures and a film. After almost 30 minutes, they gave us another room, but it didn’t have the private bathroom we had booked. They promised a full refund, but it never came. If you care about your health, stay away from this motel. There’s no reception desk, so you have to call them on a mobile. The motel door was closed when we arrived, and a woman opened it after 2-3 minutes. Check-in took 10-15 minutes even though we were the only customers there. Then the keys wouldn’t open our room door, and we waited almost an hour before getting inside. The treatment was completely unacceptable. We booked through booking.com and told them what happened.

We were told on the phone that checking in at 11 pm would be fine and that someone would be there, but when we arrived, nobody was. We had to walk to a nearby hotel and pay for a night there. The next day we went back to Amaya Motel to ask for our money back after being treated that way. They said they’d refund us for one night because we’d paid to stay somewhere else. It’s been 2-3 weeks and I still haven’t received the money, so they lied. My friend and I had a terrible experience, and they were really rude to us. I can’t recommend this place.

The staff at “Amaya” were the highlight. They were helpful, friendly, and always there when we needed them. Chapeau bas! We stayed in a deluxe twin with a bathroom. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a big enough, slightly soft bed, a couch, a large mirror, a wide shower, toiletries, and towels. The couch was a nice surprise and a real plus. The motel is about a two-minute walk from the U-Bahn, making it quick to get around the city. There are also a few shops and restaurants nearby. For a budget stay, or even otherwise, it’s a great choice for its location, cleanliness, space, and atmosphere. Thank You Amaya, for having us!

After a 14-hour flight, we’d hoped to rest for one night in Berlin, but ended up spending almost the whole night in the airport waiting room. We’d booked and paid for the room months in advance, and two days before arrival we asked to check in after 10 PM because our flight landed at 11 PM. They rejected the request. On the day, we called the motel and the man who answered was very impolite. He said nobody would be there to check us in and that they’d followed the same strict shift hours, listed in a message in German, for nine years without any problem. Strange, are all the guests that punctual? He refused to refund us, and when my partner begged him to make an exception, he mocked us on the phone. By the time we arrived, it was too late and too hard to find somewhere else. Highly NOT recommended!
