Arte Luise – Self-Check In

The location is excellent, right by the Bundestag, though the nearest public transport stop is a 10-12 minute walk. There’s an elevator, and the shared bathroom was always clean and empty. The main drawback is the railway. It’s very close, and you’ll hear trains from either side of the building, even with the windows shut. Sometimes you can feel the vibration too. There are fewer at night, but if you keep an 11 PM to 6 AM sleep schedule, that still means 10-15 trains an hour. Earplugs are provided and worked fine for me. I’m not a great sleeper, but slept like a baby. If you’re not extremely sensitive to noise, it’s worth giving the place a chance. Everything else was as described.

The location worked really well for reaching some of the major tourist spots. Inside, the room was clean, warm and tidy, though pretty bare and short on home comforts. I mainly needed a place to sleep and charge my phone, so it was plenty. Those stairs were a bit brutal after a long day on my feet.

The train noise wasn’t a problem for me, even though the hotel is right beside the railway station. What I’ll remember most is the character of the place: the central chill-out area is lovely, full of plants and cozy seats, and the whole hotel has a creative, artsy feel. It’s a little chaotic, but in a warm and welcoming way. This is more an art hotel with personality than a typical hotel. I had an insanely good stay and would come back. It’s also really convenient for getting around and exploring the city.

I’m a Turk living in Italy, and I’d happily stay here again. My single room was spotless and beautifully designed, and having my own bathroom was great. The hotel itself is thoughtfully designed too, so if you’re into interiors like I am, it’s a lovely experience. It’s close to the city’s important spots. You can hear a train pass, but it didn’t bother me at all, and earplugs are supplied for anyone who might mind it.
