Central-Hotel Tegel

Breakfast is basic but fine, and there’s a great Croatian restaurant nearby. The price may be a plus too, but the only clear good point for me was how close the hotel is to the U-bahn. The building and rooms are dated. There’s no AC, and it gets noisy outside. Room 106 is out of Wi-Fi range and gets poor GSM reception. Cleanliness was just passable, especially the bathroom could use improvement. The WC flusher refused to work about half the time. You also have to leave your key at reception whenever you go out.

Breakfast was included and really good, with mostly fresh bread and plenty of choices. The rooms were fine and clean. The internet was free, but so bad it was basically unusable, so it felt like staying somewhere without internet. Most of the reception staff don’t speak English.

The staff were nice, and the WLAN was stable and decently fast. The room was a little small, but clean, and so were the sheets and towels. The hotel dates from around 1980, and both inside and out it looks serviceable rather than impressive. Breakfast is available, though very basic. Fine for a night or two.

The rooms are a little old, but they’re a decent size. There is free Wi-Fi, and the staff speak English. If your room faces the main street, though, the cars drive by pretty much all day and it’s hard to sleep.
