Hotel Zarenhof Prenzlauer Berg

The price was absolutely fair, the room clean, breakfast good, and service nice. Not sure what more people expect. I’ll definitely come back!

For the price, this is a really nice hotel. Our Superior apartment had a lovely balcony and a small tea kitchen. The service was friendly, and we’ll be back. The location is just right, with lots of good restaurants nearby and public transport across the road. Since the hotel sits in a backyard, we couldn’t hear the road or railway noise.

It was a bit odd arriving and having to work out for myself that the actual hotel and rooms were in a separate building, a long way back from the one you first enter. The location itself is great. The rooms feel dated, and a little as if people used to smoke in them. There’s no AC, and they’d run out of fans, so a couple of nights were pretty uncomfortable.

The location is excellent, with a quiet backyard, good connections, and lots of great restaurants right in front of reception. The rooms are spacious and have kitchenettes. But I wouldn’t choose this place if a good night’s sleep matters. The beds were tiny and incredibly hard. We kept waking up to shift our aching bodies and felt exhausted the next days. Cleanliness was another problem. The bathroom wasn’t clean, we saw mould, and shampoo wasn’t refilled even after we complained. It might pass for a one-star place, but definitely not a four-star hotel at this price. Cigarette smoke also came into our room during the night. I suppose there’s not much they can do about the neighbors.
