City Pension Berlin

The location worked well for me, about 15 minutes from the main train station, and I'd stay again because it felt worth the price. I only booked a single room for two nights and wasn't expecting much since this is a cheaper hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. The receptionists were very welcoming and helpful, and my room was clean with a renovated bathroom.

Breakfast was disappointing in early 2026. There was no hot food, no scrambled eggs, and no sausages.

Getting to Berlin Central railway station takes about 10 minutes by S, and the hotel isn't far from the city centre. The rooms look a bit worn and dated, but they're fine if you only need somewhere to sleep. I was okay with the cold buffet at breakfast.

The younger woman working in the kitchen was friendly and helpful. The older woman at reception first wouldn't speak English on the phone, so I had to get a friendly stranger to translate, though she spoke good English when we arrived at the desk. Otherwise, the rooms were clean, breakfast was good, and it was quiet and fairly priced. Berlin-Charlottenburg train station is close by.
