Generator Berlin Prenzlaur Berg

They had a 24/7 reception, and the staff there were kind and helpful. I felt very safe, since you needed your card to get into the hallway, lift and rooms. The hostel was clean and quiet at night throughout my four-day stay, so I can't relate to the comments saying otherwise. I arrived around 11am, though check-in usually starts at 2pm, and they let me in early for free. My assigned bed wasn't ready, so they gave me one in an empty room. I'd booked an eight-bed shared room but ended up in a six-bed room with a private bathroom. A really lovely hostel, totally recommend it!

The room was good quality for such a low price, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay, though the bathroom could have been cleaner. Seems like a good fit for a one- to three-night trip to Berlin, especially if you're travelling alone.

It's a straightforward place to sleep, shower and then head out to explore lively Berlin. The rooms are clean and tidy, staff are friendly, and there's a nice spot to have a beer. For the price, I don't get complaints from people expecting five-star luxury.

We'd booked late checkout in advance for 15€ so we could leave at 1pm instead of 10am, but the cleaning staff opened our door without permission at 10:30. I was half naked and my boyfriend was still asleep. It was incredibly awkward and completely unacceptable. Then our key cards stopped working at 11, which made getting our things out a hassle. The receptionist was very apologetic, though, and refunded the late checkout fee. She was a sweetheart. The room was a couple's room with a private bathroom, but it didn't seem properly cleaned and the safety hinge on one window was broken. The elevators barely worked, too. Luckily we were on the second floor. Anyone on the fifth must have had an even worse time. I saw other reviews mentioning the same issue, so it seems to happen a lot. Generator stays are by far the cheapest in Berlin, but in my opinion the low price doesn't excuse these problems. I won't stay there again.
