Hampton By Hilton Berlin City Centre Alexanderplatz

From the airport, the S9 makes the hotel easy to reach, or you can take the RER to Berlin HBF and then U2. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a quiet room at the back. Breakfast is the usual Hampton fare, but they kept replenishing it quickly and nothing ran out. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond for guests. Lovely hotel on Alexanderplatz.

Breakfast was good, with cereal, meats, salad, fruit, waffles and cooked food that changed each day, including bacon, beans, scrambled and boiled eggs, and hash browns. We had a twin room with good-sized beds, tea and coffee facilities, a large TV and a safe that looked like a drawer. There was no fridge. The walk-in shower came with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly, and it was about five to ten minutes from the railway station. Not a bad hotel all in all.

The mattress was comfortable, the bedroom spacious, and the safe was a good size. The tram stop right by the entrance made the location excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was especially grateful for the late checkout. Still, I expected more from a Hampton Inn. The pillows gave no support, the shower drained slowly, and the room was far too hot for sleeping. The window only opened partway, so the traffic noise, horns and emergency vehicles were awful, probably because there's a hospital nearby. Not having a fridge was a bummer, and a dresser with drawers would have helped me unpack. Breakfast seemed pretty standard, despite online reviews making it sound better.

After repeated attempts to resolve this through the hotel and Hilton's international executive team, I'm left very disappointed with the way Hampton by Hilton Berlin City Centre Alexanderplatz handled my stay. I'm a loyal Hilton Honors Gold member, and the experience fell well below what I expected from Hilton. The main issue for me became the lack of ownership from management, more than the original incident itself. A straightforward admission of mistakes, a sincere apology that recognized my loyalty, and a reasonable recovery gesture could have settled things quickly. Instead, the communication felt procedural rather than focused on the guest. I filed a formal complaint on 2 February, and Hilton's international executive team escalated it on 3 February. The hotel manager's reply had an unacceptable tone and didn't accept responsibility or properly address what I had raised. I then sent a detailed escalation email explaining my concerns and expectations. That email went unanswered, and follow-ups on 6 February and 8 February got either no response or incomplete replies. Later, the executive team said the hotel had already responded, even though my escalation was still unresolved. It gave me the impression the case was being closed administratively instead of genuinely reviewed. Hilton promotes consistency and recognition for guests across its properties, but as a frequent Hilton guest, this did not reflect the hospitality standards I associate with the brand. Despite my repeated escalation attempts, I did not receive a professional apology taking responsibility for staff mistakes, recognition of my Hilton Honors status, or a constructive recovery gesture for a future stay. The hotel has a good location and potential, but its service recovery and guest communication need serious improvement. Future guests should know that resolving problems may become difficult once something goes wrong. I hope management takes this feedback constructively and improves guest experience and accountability.
