Havel Lodge Hotel

The staff were friendly and respectful even with the language barrier, and they helped me really well with the wheelchair accessibility issue. I enjoyed the stay and found the facilities good. Breakfast was a top-notch continental spread, and the shower was great. The mattress was too firm for a comfortable night's sleep, though I did manage a few hours. For what we paid, it was well worth it and good value. I only wish I could've stayed longer.

There's not much to do nearby, and central Berlin takes 40 minutes by public transport. The rooms look much older than the pictures, and the beds smell like wet dogs. Drinks come from an expensive vending machine. There's no staff after 7 pm, so you can't sit in the garden then. Breakfast is quite complete, but scrambled eggs cost extra.

The hotel is very close to Tegel forest and the picturesque lake of the same name, and it's about a 30-minute drive from Berlin. Rooms are minimalist and don't have a fridge. The bathroom lets the place down, especially the mold in the shower. There's also a strange smell in the dining room. Breakfast is available until 10.

Such a lovely place for a getaway. You can tell a lot of care has gone into it. The hotel is clean and well organized, and the staff are so kind and friendly. :)
