My Berlin vacation was badly affected by this stay. The apartment I got didn’t match the listing: there was no balcony, the toilet kept running, and the mattress had heavy staining, including a large brown mark that made it feel unhygienic and unusable. I’m attaching a few photos to show the condition. After check-in, the host stopped responding and didn’t help resolve anything, so I checked out right away and contacted support. Puschkin Rooms / Pension Puschkin may look fairly priced and well located, but I can’t recommend staying here.

I paid for a queen room facing the garden with a private bathroom, but got a twin room on the ground floor facing the street and using a shared bathroom instead. Check-in was awful too: the email had the wrong information, and I was lucky to have a German phone number so I could call the German contact they gave me. At checkout, that same person ignored my text, so I left the keys in the bedroom and went. The bed was really uncomfortable, the toilet was filthy, there were two spiders, and the room was dim because only one of the three bulbs in its single central light worked. I didn’t even try the kitchen. There was no internet in the room either. The person who checked me in texted me the network and password for a nearby cafe, Cafe Rex, but its Wi-Fi signal didn’t reach my room. There are eight power sockets, about the only useful thing in there. I’d have been much better off paying another 5-10 Euros a night for a budget hotel or even an airbnb. Don’t waste your money and time here. It’ll definitely ruin your stay in Berlin.

For this price, we couldn’t find a cheaper private double bed so close to public transport, shops and places to eat. Several U & S Bahn stops are just minutes away. Our bed was comfortable, and from the corner room we could watch the trains and busy street through the windows. It’s a great way to soak up city life. 10/10, I’d stay again.

Management was very disorganized. People kept waiting outside the front door, saying they were guests who needed to be let in, but they couldn’t reach the pension to get a key. When I first arrived, police were questioning a prostitute right in front of the pension, and prostitution takes place there. The bedding I got seemed used, a very bright streetlight shone into my room at night, and hot water wasn’t always available. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow when it worked at all.
