Hotel Berlin Lichtenberg

The whole stay was a pretty bad experience. Before we even got into the rooms, they demanded a €240 deposit that wasn't mentioned in the booking. Their stated reason was that they don't trust teenagers. We were given just 10 minutes for breakfast, so many people had to skip it. They called it a continental breakfast, but the so-called buffet was just bread and cheese. Several rooms had broken components, and there wasn't even a key for the washroom. Staff were rude and constantly nagging. The cleaning lady also came in while we were away and stole a charger from a room.

I was wary about staying here after reading the mixed reviews, but we did enjoy our stay. The staff were helpful and alright. Our room was pretty nice and modern, and we appreciated the city view. We were told we'd get two beds and a couch, but instead got three beds. There were a few downsides. The room wasn't cleaned for two days in a row. We hadn't made much mess and could manage without cleaning, so we didn't complain. Some TV channels appeared more than once, which made browsing annoying. The pillows could definitely be better, and a bathroom mat would have been useful.

The breakfast bar was the one bright spot, a good way to start the day. The rest was awful. In October 2025, my wife and I stayed at the Comfort Hotel in Berlin, Lichtenberg Germany while traveling through Germany, Zcech Republic, Austria and Hungarian. As a former Director of Engineering at Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott, Sofitel, Millenium Howthorn, I was appalled that the room had no instructions for anything. To get the guest WiFi password, we had to ask at the front desk, where the clerk simply pointed to a column with the password written on a piece of paper. There were no ice machines, and the TV only had German-language programming with no way to switch languages or instructions for using the remote. I don't think I'll ever recommend staying here.

The rooms and the place itself were very nice, but the way the staff treated us made for a terrible stay. I don't know whether it was because we were young or because we were tourists. One morning we arrived a bit late for breakfast and were told to clear our table. Another day at dinner, the food was so tasteless that we asked for salt, but they wouldn't give us any. I don't think I'll come back.
