Hotel Pension Eberty

The room was basic but clean, with twin beds, a wardrobe and a table. The showers and bathroom are shared. The coffee machine costs 50 cents, though there’s a free hot-water button for tea. Reception is only open from 1 to 3 pm. For late check-in, there’s an outside key box, and the code comes by email.

The rooms feel modern and well kept, and the beds and pillows seemed new and extremely comfortable. There’s no private bathroom in the rooms, but the pension has plenty of clean shared bathrooms with showers. It’s in eastern Berlin, around a 15-20 minute walk from the U-Bahn and S-Bahn and just 5 minutes from the M5 and M10 trams. The Berlin Wall, Alexanderplatz and other artistic, alternative areas are only a couple of stops away. Room service comes every other day rather than daily, which was inconvenient when I needed a fresh towel after the first day and nobody was around. Apart from that, I had a good experience.

The guy on the phone was extremely unhelpful and just shouted at me. I arrived in the morning and asked if I could leave my luggage at the hotel. He said no and hung up. Better off staying in a hostel. The people here are bad.

Some guests were partying in their room at 2 am, making noise and kicking doors in the corridor. I called the owner’s emergency number, and he just asked what he could do, then told me to speak to them myself or call the police myself. The place is only staffed for a few hours a day. Absolutely appalling, avoid at all cost.
