ibis Berlin City Süd

They refused even a basic late checkout request, and the rooms weren’t cleaned. As a longtime Accor Gold member, I’ve never seen service or staff attitude this poor. The impression is that they care about making money from customers, including people who’ve stayed loyal to Accor brands for more than two decades, rather than the customer experience. This hotel doesn’t deserve to be part of Accor.

The location is lovely, though it’s a bit farther from the city center. U Bhan station is close, and there are some restaurants, pharmacies, and grocery stores a little farther away. The hotel and room were clean, breakfast was decent, and the staff were really friendly. I’d stay here again on a future trip to Berlin.

We arrived to find that our prepaid room, confirmed by both the hotel and Booking.com, was being refused at reception. Around 20 other guests were in the same situation, despite having valid paid reservations. We’d spent a lot on flights and trains to get there, and the wasted time and money meant I missed my business meeting and couldn’t enjoy Berlin. The trip was ruined before it began. The staff shouted at us instead of helping, and the so-called manager refused refunds and didn’t apologize. They put 20 paying guests out on the street. When we arrived, staff wouldn’t even give us water. We called Booking.com, but they did nothing to help or protect us. The hotel is in what I was told is one of the city’s most dangerous areas, with the highest crime percentage in Berlin. To me, the whole thing felt like a scam run by arrogant, dishonest, disrespectful people. They shouldn’t be in business. Avoid it. Never again.

The neighbourhood didn’t seem particularly nice, though the location worked well for me. The room itself was pleasant, but the window was small and the view rather dim. I asked twice to have the towels changed. I suspect the request got lost in communication between the front desk and housekeeping.
