Loft am Maybachufer

On Fridays, the stalls run from early morning until evening, or until satisfied shoppers have cleared them out. People come from all over Berlin, not just the Kreuzberg neighborhood, and tourists come too. Turkish is the main language for bargaining, but don’t worry, you’ll understand without much difficulty. :-) You can also find street food from around the world.

I left happy with what I bought, and the vendors were so friendly that shopping was a joy. The market sits beside the river, which made the atmosphere feel fresh, and the weather was perfect during my visit. A lot of the fruit and vegetables cost less than at the supermarket, though a few things were more expensive. Definitely worth checking out for a nice shopping trip!

There’s so much variety that you could spend hours here. I found fresh tahini, which was really cool!

There are food choices from all over the world, so it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Seating is available, but there isn’t enough for the crowds. It got hotter and busier as the hours passed. I visited in August, and it seemed there was no ventilation or air conditioning. With all the people and the heat from cooking, that took away from the experience a bit.
