Motel One Berlin-Ku'Damm

We stayed five nights and ended up living out of our suitcases because there was nowhere to store our things. That's the only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five. The rooms are small but very clean, and the bed and bedding were really comfortable. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. It's a great spot for catching trains within Berlin or heading out of the city, with plenty of food nearby. Despite the tracks right beside the hotel, our room was quiet.

The train tracks right outside the windows make some rooms noisier than others. Otherwise, it's an average, decent hotel, but the quality doesn't really justify the high price. There was a big event nearby at the time, which may have pushed the rates up.

It was my first visit to berlin, and Patrick was especially helpful, suggesting a few places and giving me a map. The rest of the staff were good too, and the place was clean and well located. My room was small but fine. I was confused about the lobby food rule: one worker let me eat there the day before and even brought cutlery, but a woman later told me I couldn't eat my food in the lobby. Still a good experience. Thanks, team!

The room felt cramped, with very little table or surface space to work at, though that's probably typical for a city. The strange, creepy art hanging right above the bed didn't help. The designers seem to have missed a lot of basic comforts. There's only one English channel among a huge number of German ones. The bathroom door swings shut by itself, trapping steam unless you prop it open. A small, oddly placed towel bar below the sink means a hand towel could fall onto the floor. The half-door on the shower lets water out onto the floor and cold air into the shower. The AC had been turned off by maintenance, so we had to open the windows for air and put up with road and train noise. There were no liners in the trash cans, which was disgusting.
